Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 : Day 1: Pickup from Entebbe & Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Your safari begins with a pickup from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Entebbe. From there, your guide heads southwest on a road that winds through some of Uganda’s most beautiful scenery. Lush rolling hills, terraced farms, tea estates, and roadside villages make the drive a visual treat. Throughout the drive, your guide shares fascinating stories and facts about Uganda’s people and landscapes. After 9-10 hours on the road, you arrive at your lodge in Bwindi and check in. Take a few minutes to freshen up, then gather for a warm and satisfying dinner.

Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Gorilla Valley Lodge (Budget) | Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge (Mid-Range)

Day 02 : Gorilla Trekking Experience

Rise at 5:30 a.m. and fuel up with a hearty breakfast at the lodge. Then, drive to the park headquarters for the important 7:30 a.m. briefing. Rangers explain the trekking rules carefully and divide trekkers into small groups of eight per gorilla family. By 8:00 a.m., armed ranger guides lead each group into the dense and ancient forest. Meanwhile, trackers who entered the forest earlier radio in the gorilla family’s exact location. Depending on the gorillas’ movements, the hike takes anywhere from one to six hours. Steep trails and thick vegetation make the trek challenging, yet the reward makes every step worthwhile. Finally, once your group locates the family, you spend one full hour watching them up close. Notice how these powerful yet gentle giants eat, rest, and interact with their young ones. Back at the starting point, rangers award every trekker a gorilla trekking certificate to mark the occasion. This certificate serves as a proud reminder of your encounter with these magnificent primates.

Afterward, return to your lodge for a satisfying lunch and a much-needed afternoon rest. In the evening, join the Batwa community for a lively performance celebrating their ancient forest heritage. Alternatively, visit nearby local artisans and browse beautifully crafted handmade souvenirs to take home. Either way, the evening adds genuine meaning and warmth to an already unforgettable day.
