Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 : Burundi Cultural Tour

After breakfast, you’ll first visit Gitega’s National Museum to see ancient artefacts and traditions. Next, you’ll head to the Explorers’ Memorial, where Hannington once met John Speke beside a striking rock formation—perfect for photos. Afterward, you’ll browse local markets and craft shops around the city.
Following lunch, you’ll travel to Lake Tanganyika, the city’s top attraction. Here, you can watch local fishermen at work, play beach volleyball, swim, sunbathe, or take a relaxing boat ride. In the evening, you’ll be treated to a lively Gasimbo dance performance, where dancers move with astonishing flexibility.

Day 02 : Visit Kibira National Park

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you’ll set off for Kibira National Park. There, you’ll join a guided nature walk or chimpanzee trek, coming face-to-face with chimps, red-tailed colobus, and black-and-white monkeys. Meanwhile, you’ll also spot rare montane tree species and vibrant birds such as the great blue turaco. After lunch, you’ll continue exploring another section of the forest before returning to Bujumbura for the night.

Day 03 : Visit the Southern Source of the Nile

Once you’ve had breakfast, you’ll drive to Rutovu, widely believed to be the Nile’s southern source. Then, you’ll continue to Gitega, stopping en route at Agasumoka Mwaro, a sacred worship site tied to the traditional Imana belief. Afterward, you’ll visit the Gashora Drum Sanctuary to admire historic drums and live performances. Finally, you’ll explore Nyakazu (the German Gorge), a WWI-era German fort with breathtaking views, before heading back to Bujumbura.
